Identify the truck first; every fitment split on this page follows from it.
These trucks did not share one parts list - the air element comes in three shapes, trucks and vans carry different fuel filters, carbureted and injected engines take different kits, and even the oil level stick changes by build month.
Identify the truck first; each section below shows you how.
Find Your Truck
Start with the exact chassis model - some listings fit the S110P only - then four more things decide every fitment on this page: the body style, the engine code, the fuel system, and the build date. The identifiers read straight off the identification plate; the build date comes from your registration or title - or send us the chassis number and we confirm it for you.
Find the plate. The identification plate rivets to the cab - it carries the chassis and engine identifiers.
Read two lines. Chassis number for the body, engine line for the code.

Match the engine code first, then the exact chassis model (some kits are S110P-only), the body style and the listing's date range - several EF-NS kits are split by build date. A second 3-piece filter kit is listed for S110P trucks 1994-1998 without the carburetor restriction - check that listing if your truck is injected. For EF-GS, EF-GZ and EF-ZS the listing itself is the fitment reference; those codes sit outside this manual's coverage.
Oiwa guidance: catching up on deferred maintenance? One kit for your engine code covers the set in a single order - confirm the listing's body style and date range and the match is done.
Inspection & Service
The factory schedule treats inspecting a part and replacing it as different jobs on different clocks. The table below keeps them apart - inspection tells you whether a part is still serving; the replacement interval retires it regardless.

Source: Daihatsu factory service manual for the S100/S110 family. Intervals are the factory's; drive severity is not factored.
Practical service guidance: on the EF-NS and EF-ES the oil change and the oil filter share the same 10,000 km clock, which makes them easy to book together; the EF-TS turbo changes its oil at 5,000 km while its filter still runs to 10,000 km. Put the air element and fuel filter on the same calendar so nothing silently runs past its interval.
Air Cleaner & Element Types
The factory fitted three different air cleaner elements across the range, and the shape follows the body style and engine - a cylindrical element for trucks, a flat panel for turbocharged vans, and a round element for vans without the turbo. They do not interchange; identify the truck before ordering.
Truck. Cylindrical element for Hijet pickups.
Van (turbo). Flat panel element for turbocharged vans.
Van (non-turbo). Round element for non-turbo vans.
Air cleaner location. The housing in the engine bay - vacuum motor mounted on it (EF-NS).
Changing the element starts at the housing - the factory view above shows it in the engine bay, and on the EF-NS the vacuum motor sits right on it. Find it on your vehicle before you start. Cracked or missing lid? Air cleaner lids are stocked separately.
Fuel System Layouts
Trucks and vans do not share a fuel filter. The assemblies differ, the mounting differs, and carbureted trucks run a different filter again from the injected models. In this collection that splits into a carbureted truck filter (EF-CS, EF-NS) and a genuine van unit (EF-NS). Injected trucks and vans also carry different EFI filter units - on those, the banjo-bolt washers are single-use. On the injected system the flow runs tank → in-tank pump → fuel main → filter → delivery pipe, with the return and canister lines closing the loop - so the filter you are buying sits mid-stream, not at the tank.

Truck: on the frame. ② canister hose · ③ fuel main · ④ fuel return - all meeting the filter in its bracket by the tank.

Van: different run. The van system routes differently and takes its own filter unit - this factory layout shows the whole line.
Troubleshooting
A symptom is an entry point, not a diagnosis. The checks below are the factory's own procedures from this manual - pairing them with what you notice is our practical routing, so start where it fits and let the check decide.
What you notice
Factory check
Fuel smell, or wet spots near the tank
Check the tank, hoses and fuel filter for leaks, and the hoses for cracks and deterioration - and remember hoses have a 4-year replacement interval
Dusty roads lately, or the element is due its check
Pull the air element and inspect it for dirt and damage; the factory check includes cleaning it
Not sure the oil level is right
Engine stopped, on level ground: pull the gauge, wipe it, reinsert, and read - then check the oil's contamination while you are there
Reading the level stick
The oil belongs between the gauge's two round holes - below the lower hole means top up
Just changed a fuel filter
Run the pump for 8 seconds with the check-terminal jumper and watch every joint for seepage - see Installation & Service
Check the level. Engine off, on level ground - the oil sits between the gauge's two marks.
The level stick is the cheapest diagnostic tool on the truck. Engine stopped, level ground, wipe and re-dip - a habit worth keeping after every filter change.
Installation & Service
Oil filter
The factory pulls the old filter with cap wrench SST 09228-87201-000 - it threads onto the union on the block.
Oil the gasket. A light coat of clean engine oil on the new filter's packing before installation.
Wipe a light coat of clean engine oil onto the new filter's gasket, spin it on by hand until the gasket seats, then take it a further ¾ turn with the cap wrench - no more. Start the engine and check for leaks, then stop it and re-check the level.
Fuel filter
On injected engines, depressurize first: pull the fuel pump relay, run the engine until it stops, refit the relay - the relay sits in a different place on trucks and vans (the factory shows each in figures SS1E1041 and SS1E1052). Hold the filter at its 19 mm flats to crack the union, keep a rag under the joint, and never reuse the gaskets or the marked banjo washers - they are single-use. After fitting, jumper the check terminals TE1-E1 (SST 09991-87705-000) so the pump runs for 8 seconds; watch every joint for seepage. Carb trucks (EF-NS per the manual): relieve pressure by opening the tank cap.
Workshop figures: oil filter union to block 400-500 kg-cm, drain plug 200-300 kg-cm; the EF-TS turbo carries its filter on a bracket (bracket-to-block 156-234, turbo oil inlet pipe to bracket 200-300); fuel pipe union 400±50 kg-cm, banjo at the marked joint 100±10. Full table under Specifications.

Factory Notes
One boundary in the source worth knowing: the factory manual has no dedicated fuel-filter removal section for the carbureted EF-NS - its fuel-filter procedure (15-4) covers the injected EF-ES and EF-TS. The carbureted guidance on this page comes from the manual's EF-NS carb note (relieve pressure by opening the tank cap), and everything else printed here for carb trucks stays within what that note supports.
