Should I do the rotors too?
If the rotors are grooved or thin, do them with the pads. Otherwise clean them up and bed the new pads in.
Do I replace both sides?
Yes. Pads are replaced per axle so braking stays even.
How do I check my brake pads?
Look through the wheel at the pad thickness against the rotor. A few millimeters or less, or a squeal from the wear indicator, means replace them; a grinding noise is metal-to-metal, so do it now.
