How often should ignition parts be replaced?
Spark plugs are due about every 30,000 km. The cap and rotor are the ones to stay ahead of on an old Kei truck: every 48,000 km or every three to five years, whichever comes first, with a quick look every 24,000 to 32,000 km in between.
Do I need special tools to install this?
Ordinary hand tools handle it. Use a plug socket with the rubber insert so the porcelain survives, and put a little dielectric grease in each boot to keep water out.
Should I wait for a misfire before replacing these parts?
No. A misfire always picks its moment, and it is never in your driveway. Ignition parts are the ones you replace on your schedule instead of theirs.

There are points in the rev band where the whole truck will ring like a tuning fork. I notice traffic wont get near me either. I think they think it's going to fly apart, whick it may sometime.
I think if the can were larger overall with some small redesign of the baffles it might even actually add performance and not Just be loud. I sourced a motorcycle muffler spark arrestor to put in the mid pipe. I have confidence that will fix the ringing. I still like it and it's very well made. It does sound cool. No backfiring for long downhills in gear. Feel confident in your purchase. You won't be disappointed.
